![]() Like I said, the combat is very much hack n’ slash with a ton of enemies on screen all at once. But I’m starting to get ahead of myself: let me explain in a little more detail what it’s like to play this game. ![]() I was just riding high after another grand adventure with the Phantom Thieves. (In fact, Strikers doesn’t even really play like any other musou I’ve ever experienced.)īy the end of Strikers, I was very much over the fact that the game wasn’t turn-based like its predecessor. I started to get into the flow, and would often find myself forgetting that I was playing a musou game at all. ![]() And by the time I reached the end of the first dungeon and fought the first boss, I had that “Aha!” moment you get with great games. About 5-6 hours into the game, the combat really started to click for me. There were a ton of tutorials spoon-feeding me mechanics so it took a little while for the combat to really catch its stride, and the story hadn’t quite caught fire yet either. It is a very me thing to say I’ll admit my bias.)īut to be fair (to me), the early hours of the game kind of dragged a little. We’ve got the gang back together for summer vacation! I just really wish it was still turn-based.” (FYI I’ve been told “if only it was turn-based” is a very “me” thing to say and you know what, a spade’s a spade. It’s still Persona, just not turn-based.Īnd to be honest, at the start of the game I was thinking, “This is great. Strikers is a musou-style action game, meaning that there’s a ton of enemies on screen that you’ll be hacking and slashing your way through – but you know what? A musou spinoff sequel. For that, Persona 5 Strikers is a fitting reunion for players that are looking for one last surprise from everyone’s favourite Phantom Thieves, no matter where the road takes them next.*This is a spoiler-free review. As a love letter to a group of characters and setting that I quickly grew attached to, having the chance to jump back in and steal some hearts with Joker and the crew is entirely worth the return trip to Japan. I think, right now, that message is immeasurably important, and hits harder than a bullet formed from the Seven Deadly Sins." Persona 5 Strikers review - TheGamer - PS4 - 5/5: "If Persona 5 was about forming bonds with new people and recruiting them for a common cause, Persona 5 Strikers is about taking the Phantom Thieves and proving that the friendship they share is lasting, that it can and will endure any hardship. ![]() But in the meantime here is a round-up of some of the Persona 5 Strikers reviews. ![]()
